Anime Capture Roblox Unit Rarity Guide
Common through Mythical—what each color means for pulls, upgrades, and long-term roster value.
Rarity is the first thing you notice when a capture capsule bursts open in Anime Capture, and it is the last thing you should trust blindly. StarX Inc’s August 2026 launch uses six visible tiers—Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythical—each with different passive ceilings, duplicate costs, and upgrade curves. This guide explains what every color means, when to invest Gems, and when to fodder a pull for Crystals instead.
Rarity answers “how high can this unit go?” Tier list pages answer “should I care right now?” Cross-read Best Starter Units and Mythical Units after you understand the ladder below.
Rarity overview table
| Rarity | Typical role | Upgrade priority | Stop upgrading when… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | Fodder, tutorial | Low | Any Uncommon+ replaces its passive |
| Uncommon | Early placeholder | Low–medium | Rare carry online |
| Rare | World-one carry | Medium | Epic or Legendary DPS ready |
| Epic | Mid-game anchor | High | Mythical chase begins |
| Legendary | Pre-Mythical flex | High | S-tier Mythical duplicates secured |
| Mythical | Chase centerpiece | Very high | Passive maxed or patch shifts meta |
Colors flash on capsule reveal and in the unit inventory filter. If two units share a rarity, compare passive text, not icon flashiness.
Common and Uncommon
Commons flood early pulls and code-driven ticket sessions. They upgrade cheaply, which tempts new players into spreading resources. Resist that urge. Commons exist to teach the capture loop and pad pity counters—not to define your build.
Uncommons bridge tutorial rewards to your first Rare. Keep one Uncommon economy passive if it boosts Crystal drops, but swap combat Uncommons the moment a Rare damage unit appears. On the Tier List, most Commons and Uncommons sit C-tier or B-tier at best.
Rare and Epic
Rare units are the first “real” carries for world one. Their passives scale cleanly with Damage potions from Codes like RELEASE and THANKS4K. Most launch accounts should max one Rare DPS before chasing higher rarities.
Epic units introduce higher duplicate costs and stronger passives—often hybrid bonuses that touch both damage and sustain. Epics remain relevant into world three unless power creep from Mythicals makes them flex slots. Tier list pages usually rank strong Epics at A-tier until Mythical investment begins.
When deciding between upgrading a maxed Rare or pulling for Epic+, ask:
- Does the Epic passive solve my current boss gate?
- Do I have duplicate shards or only one copy?
- Am I saving tickets for Mythical sessions?
If the answer to the last question is yes, pause Epic evolution and bank resources.
Legendary
Legendaries are the pre-Mythical ceiling for many free-to-play rosters. They require heavy Gem and Crystal sinks but can outperform early Mythicals that lack duplicates. Legendary economy passives—Crystal bonus, sell price boosts, ticket drip—often stay in rosters longer than Legendary DPS units because income multipliers age well.
Do not assume Legendary automatically beats Epic. A well-upgraded Epic DPS with synergistic potions can out-DPS a fresh Legendary until duplicate evolution kicks in. Check Team Building for slot pairing before foddering Epics.
Mythical
Mythicals are the chase rarity: low base drop rate, high duplicate value, strong idle presentation. They define late launch meta discussions on Mythical Units and often require Luck potions during pull sessions.
Mythical passives fall into burst DPS, team amplifiers, and boss specialists. Rarity guarantees potential, not performance—a Mythical with narrow proc conditions can underperform a Legendary until evolved. Budget F2P players should set ticket caps before hunting Mythicals; codes help, but pity is not guaranteed.
Pull rates and pity (launch expectations)
StarX has not published official capsule rates at launch. Community testing suggests:
- Common + Uncommon dominate single pulls without potions
- Rare+ spikes when Luck potions and multi-pulls align
- Mythical hits are event-worthy; plan sessions, not impulse taps
Track your own pulls instead of trusting chat screenshots. If rates change, Launch Patch Notes will mention compensation codes—another signal to adjust expectations.
Evolution and duplicates
Higher rarities demand duplicates or shard items to unlock full passives. UI hints vary by unit, but the pattern holds:
- First copy unlocks base passive
- Mid duplicates boost numbers or add procs
- Final tiers may need world drops or event mats
Never evolve every duplicate automatically. Compare evolution preview numbers against your current carry on the Units hub.
Selling vs. keeping fodder
Sell or convert when:
- Duplicate sits three tiers below your carry
- Passive overlaps an already upgraded unit
- Inventory cap blocks new captures
Keep when:
- Evolution screen shows immediate next-tier bonus
- Passive fills a missing role (economy, luck, sustain)
- Collection rewards require retention
Rarity vs. tier list mindset
High rarity does not equal high tier. Tier lists weigh performance after investment in the current meta. A Common luck stick can be B-tier for ticket farming while a fresh Mythical sits B-tier until duplicated.
Return to the Tier List hub whenever you unsure whether rarity or role should drive your next Gem spend.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What is the rarity order in Anime Capture?
Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, then Mythical as the highest tier in launch capsules.
Do higher rarities always cost more Gems to upgrade?
Yes. Each step up the ladder increases Gem and Crystal costs per level, which is why spreading upgrades across low rarities is inefficient.
Can I get Mythical units from free codes?
Launch codes grant tickets, potions, and Gems—not direct Mythical units. Use those rewards to fund capture sessions instead.
Should I keep low-rarity luck units?
Keep one Uncommon or Rare luck passive until a Legendary or Mythical luck unit replaces it without hurting your DPS slot.
Where do I see unit tier rankings by rarity?
On the Tier List hub plus Best Starter Units and Mythical Units pages, which rank performance—not just color.
Do rarities change when StarX patches the game?
Rarity labels stay stable, but drop rates and passive numbers can shift. Read Launch Patch Notes after each update.
